Darex would like to introduce Wenesco. Wenesco is one of our valued customers and we had the opportunity to ask Joe Hernadez, Wenesco's Fabrication Manager, several questions about his company and how our sharpeners has impacted his company. Read all about this by clicking here.

Darex: Please describe your business.
Joe: We are a small manufacturing company located in Chicago, Illinois. We employ approximately 20 employees.
Darex: What does Wenesco manufacture/build?
Joe: We manufacture Soldering equipment, Industrial Melters, Hot Plates, as well as melters for soap and Wax.
Darex: What’s the biggest challenge facing your business today?
Joe: Our biggest challenge is trying to maintain overhead and cost. Regardless if this is with inventory, materials, and overhead.
Darex: What types of cutting tools do you use on a frequent basis?
Joe: Mostly drill bits. HSS and or Tin Coated ranging in size from 1/8” to 1”. We do more metal fabrication in house and don’t tend to do a lot of machining; drills are the cutting tools we use.
Darex: Before you purchased your Darex machine, how did you keep your cutting tools sharp?
Joe: We sharpened by hand and everyone was responsible for sharpening their own drills. But the drills wouldn’t always come out right. So we would have some down time, because if the bit wasn’t done right by had the first time we had to go back go back and sharpen it again.
Darex: What Darex machine do you own? How long have you owned it?
Joe: We have the V-390 and have had it now for 2 months. This machine gets used daily in our shop.
Darex: How has owning a Darex sharpener improved your business?
Joe: It saves us money and we no longer need to purchase as many bits. We used to toss our drills after a couple uses now we can sharpen them until the flutes are gone. It also has helped reduce our overhead by increasing productivity.
Darex: What would you say to someone considering a purchase of a Darex machine?
Joe: That this is a good machine. It is long lasting and well-built and will help you increase productivity in your shop.
