While cleaning up old warehouse space the staff at Darex recently uncovered some classic marketing materials! This brochure advertised the second drill sharpener ever created by Darex, the M2. The M2 was the first drill grinder that achieved widespread sales and success for Darex. It was also the first tool sharpener that help to cement Darex’ position in the marketplace as high quality, affordable sharpener that anyone in a shop could use. While Darex has added many features, greatly improved tolerances and materials, the M2 introduced the basic sharpening methodology still used (albeit in a more robust package) today.
This Literature was created and printed in 1980, and although the machines have changed significantly, as have the fashions, many of the benefits of sharpening house remain unchanged. Increased production, longer drill life, fewer operations, and high quality parts are now more important than ever for all types of manufacturing operations. The M2 was a success because it set the standard for in house drill sharpening, allowing any user to quickly and easily sharpen a wide variety of drill bits. Darex has gone on to create many new sharpeners with that same tradition. The newest tool sharpeners have many features that could not even be imagined back in the days of the M2. Arthur Bernard (seen back left in the cover photo) the creator of the first Darex sharpeners would be amazed to see how the machines have evolved and changed since these humble beginnings. It has been a long road from the M2 to the CNC controlled XPS-16 drill sharpener, but Darex has continued to stay to its roots: providing high quality, easy to use sharpeners at a price that no shop can afford to pass up.
